A wildfire has recently ripped through the town of Bamburg, CA, where Basia and her brother Baz (fraternal twins) have just graduated from the ninth grade. Their high school has been burned to the ground and ,with it, the 1st place trophy for their recent win in the school science fair. Baz retrieves the melted trophy from the ruins and the twins soon discover that its diamond-like new form contains very special powers. They discover that the gem opens other-worldly portals where they encounter the climate change villains: Blaze, Smog, UltraVi, and their leader, Crisis. To counter the villain’s negative powers, the gem also allows the twins the power to create superheroes who battle the climate change villains: Storm, Mascara Verde, Ozone, and Glacier. As the conflict heightens, Sienna, a teen news reporter who live-streams her breaking news becomes an ally to the twins as they fight the villains to make their planet a better place.
(We're looking to cast the roles of BAZ and BASIA with 2 actors who currently live together as they will be the only 2 characters who will physically interact with each other in the production)

SIENNA (female, teen news reporter)
Hey, news lovers! It’s me, Sienna, your favorite reporter. You’re in the right place if you’re living for the dopest drops of the day. If you’ve been watching my live stream recently, you know that I’ve been talking a lot about the climate crisis. It’s a serious subject that needs some real talk, serious talk. So, listen up, ‘cause Sienna’s gonna get serious. Now, you may ask, “Why so serious, Sienna?” Because California is literally on fire. If you live in Cali, you know what I’m talking about. Wildfire season is a year-round event. Just yesterday, a wildfire burned a path across the small California town of Bamburg. The shopping mall, the McDonalds, and the high school, were all in the fire’s direct path and were burned to the ground. Crews of volunteers have started to sift through the ashes of what remains in hopes of finding any clues about how it started. Thanks to the quick and heroic work of the fire fighters there were no injuries and only two homes were destroyed. If you live in Bamburg and you’re watching this stream, please know that I’m thinking of you and hoping your town recovers quickly. Well, I see it’s time to go so catch me tomorrow for more news that you can’t live without. I’m Sienna. See ya’ later.
BLAZE (any gender, the wildfire villain)
I'm sure you're wond'ring who I am -
You're standing there and looking stunned.
So, use your eyes and see my flames
and feel my heat that fills the air.
Then, when I tell you that my name
is BLAZE, maybe you'll understand
my pow'r is great compared to yours.
So bow before me, little ones,
and know that you don't stand a chance!
I told you that my pow’r was great!
That fireball just proved my point!
And here’s another, just in case
You don’t believe that I am BLAZE!
What is that in your tiny hand?
Is that the Healing Amulet!?
Where did you find that precious gem?
It wasn’t made for mortal hands,
It’s powers are too dangerous
For little kids like you to own.
My boss will want me to collect
That amulet so give it here.
Don’t make me threaten you again
My pow’rs are fierce, as you can tell.
MASCARA VERDE (any gender, superhero of the winds)
(with a rousing Grito Mexicano)
Me llamo Mascara Verde,
In Mayan jungles I was born.
In Chichen Itza I have trained
Beside the wind gods in the sun.
The jaguar and the kinkajou -
They were my playmates every day,
And every night I slept among
The orchid trees and listened to
The wind caress the Ceiba tree,
A silent prayer to all our gods.
I hold the power of the wind
Inside my lungs. Now, I release
A mighty gale that blows away
Polluted air. Foul smoke, be gone!
SMOG (any gender, Pollution Villain)
(a little too sweetly, trying to fool them, then as her/his anger builds, the true villain is revealed)
Hellooooo, I heard you calling me.
I’m Smog, and I am here to help.
If both of you will be my friends
I’ll fill your lungs with sweet, clean air
So you can breathe quite easily.
Why are you coughing? Nothing’s wrong.
Don’t hurt my feelings, don’t be rude.
This is no way to treat a guest.
Your Mother obviously failed
To teach you manners, what a shame.
You won’t like me if I get mad.
I’m warning you that if you think
You can’t breathe now - just wait until
I burn your lungs with poison fumes.
You’ll beg for mercy but I won’t
Give in. I’ll smoke and smolder, and
You’ll see that I mean business when
Your eyes tear up, your throats dry out -
It’s not a thing to laugh about!
I told you not to mess with me!
I’m not a weakling, like you two.
And I’ll be back, I’m always here -
I fill the air, I fill the sea.
You two cannot get rid of me!
